MP3 to MIDI
Drop one file. It is decoded and transcribed in this tab, then a standard .mid file is ready to download.
ONLY
The first conversion loads the local note model.
Conversion starts as soon as you choose a file. Clear recordings led by one instrument or voice usually produce a more useful draft than dense mixes or drums. Try the dedicated guitar to MIDI converter, inspect the voice test, the MP4 video test, or the full-song arrangement test, or use the reverse MIDI to MP3 renderer.
What you can bring in
The page asks your browser to decode the file. Containers and codecs are separate, so the same extension can behave differently. The table records the 0.8-second fixtures tested in desktop Chrome on October 29, 2026; it does not claim support in every browser.
Your recording stays on this device
The browser reads the file into memory. A bundled note model estimates pitches, starts, lengths and velocities here in the tab. The generated download is assembled locally.
- 01Decode
Your browser opens the file and mixes its channels for analysis.
- 02Transcribe
The bundled note model estimates editable note events.
- 03Download
The page writes those events into a standard MIDI file.
Straight answers
Audio and MIDI are different kinds of data, so this is transcription—not a lossless format change.
How do I convert an MP3 file to MIDI?
Drop the MP3 above. The change from MP3 to MIDI starts immediately, and the download button appears when note transcription finishes.
Can I convert audio to MIDI without uploading it?
Yes. Decoding, model inference and MIDI writing happen in this browser tab. The selected file is not sent to a server.
What should I expect from the result?
Treat it as an editable draft. Solo piano, guitar, bass, voice or a hummed melody are more suitable than percussion, heavy reverb or a full mixed song. Check the notes in a DAW or notation app. Our voice-to-MIDI test shows how one sustained hum can split into neighboring note events, while the song-to-MIDI test documents one mixed arrangement.
Is this an audio to MIDI or WAV to MIDI converter too?
Yes. MP3 to MIDI is the main workflow, and the same tool accepts the tested audio and video formats listed above. The result is one editable MIDI track you can inspect before downloading. See the controlled M4A and FLAC audio-to-MIDI test and the noisy WAV-to-MIDI test.
Why can a listed format still fail?
Containers and codecs are separate. For example, two MOV files can carry different audio codecs. If this browser cannot decode the audio track, the page reports that specific problem. The MP4-to-MIDI test documents one exact H.264/AAC combination that decoded successfully.
